Roofing
The goal is to have part of the roof done to protect for winter. We need to get the tongue and groove on with the tar paper. So...here it goes.
This is the roof from the inside. This is what our ceiling will look like. I think it is beautiful.
Here is the outside (obviously). On top will go tar paper, insulation and then a metal roof.

This is what I love about this project. This time of year is beautiful up in the mountains. The bright sun on the changing colors. The air is fresh and the weather is crisp. I can hardly wait to sit on my porch and read a book in October up here. Then you can go snuggle up by a warm fire. Maybe in about 2 years. (:
OK so it is not New England but this is not too shabby. I love the changing leaves. We just need to figure out how to get some red up here. There is a little but none on our land. We love our little slice of heaven. It is great to get away from the TV and phones even if it is just for a few days.

Fires and stuff
We feel like we just need to go visit our cabin every chance we get. We don't want it to forget us. Dave always seems to stay busy doing things that I can never figure out. In fact his energy for this project wears me out so I just sit and drink something cold and try to rest. I thought this picture of my Dad and Dave standing by the cabin would help give some perspectiveThe scary thing about mountain property of course is fires. On our way home on Saturday we drove through the fire in Southern Utah. It was HUGE and completely intimidating. I hope this never happens on our mountain. One thing about fires though is that it makes for beautiful sunsets and moonlight. The sun shining through the fire was as red as anything I had ever seen. It was like something from the Lord of the Rings. Sadly this week we woke up to our cars covered in ash and our pool with a film of ash on it. The kids couldn't swim until we cleaned it. This of course was from the fires in California. Our prayers go out to those people who have been harmed by this fire and especially to those fire fighters who have lost their lives and who are still working so hard to put it out. Until next time...

August 23
We haven't made much progress on the cabin lately. Too many other obligations. Hopefully over the next few Saturdays we will be able to do the roof. We took some pictures while we were there yesterday. It is beautiful this time of year and we can't wait until we have a good bath tub to clean up the kids at the end of the day.
